Course Overview

This course reminds drivers not to use or be under the influence of alcohol while on duty, not to possess alcohol while on duty, and that they could face serious consequences if they violate the alcohol prohibitions.

After completing this course, drivers will be able to:

  • List the prohibitions on using alcohol under 49 CFR Section 392.5
  • Identify the exception to the alcohol prohibitions
  • Specify how many hours you‚àö√Øll be placed out of service if you violate the regulation

  • Introduction
  • CMV drivers are subject to alcohol restrictions
  • CMV drivers cannot consume alcohol while on duty.
  • You must stop drinking long before you report to work.
  • You cannot possess alcohol while on duty.
  • Violations will result in being cited and placed out of service.
  • You must report an incident to your employer and state licensing agency.
  • You may be disqualified from driving.
