Course Overview
This lesson will make you aware of the hazards associated with oil spills, as well as techniques for preventing them, containing them, and cleaning them up.
After successful completion of this course, you should have a greater understanding of:
- The harmful effects of spilled oil and the applicable laws and regulations for oil pollution prevention.
- The purpose and general requirements of a facility SPCC Plan.
- The general operating procedures designed to prevent spills.
- General control measures to prevent an oil spill from reaching navigable waters and adjoining shorelines.
- Basic countermeasures for stopping a spill from reaching the environment
- Basic measure on how to respond to facility shutdown and evacuation.
