Standard First Aid Theory

This Standard First Aid course will have both an online and a classroom component. In order to receive your certificate, you must first successfully complete both portions. With this certificate, you will be able to respond to a medical emergency at home or in public.

Course Overview

Unlike traditional first aid, this Standard First Aid CPR & AED online training course will have an online component that can be taken at the learner's pace. This is done to encourage a more fun and engaging learning experience. This course has two components:

  • An online first aid theory component
  • A classroom based first aid practical skills component

During the online component, you will do all of the theory required to complete the practical portion. Every section will be fully explained with the use of minimum technical terminology. The theory portion of this course will take eight hours to finish, keeping in mind you are not required to complete it all in one sitting. It is recommended that you aim to do a module a day for maximized learning. If during your module, you are interrupted, you may simply log out and log back in when you are available, and your place in the course will be kept.

In order to participate in the classroom training, you first need to finish the online theory. It is recommended that you finish the online theory a week prior to your in-person training session. Although you may complete your training at your own pace, both the online and practical sessions must be completed within 30 days. If any questions arise during the online portion, you may email us from within the course and you will get a response within 24 hours.

Once you have completed the theory, you will be ready for your practical training. After completing the online theory, the practical training must be completed within 2 weeks. The 2-day practical training session will be booked by Rescue 7. Thirty (30) days before the practical training, access codes for the online portion will be provided to the client. During the in-person training, an instructor will be able to answer any questions you may have. After the questions, the instructor will demonstrate first aid techniques including emergency scene management and treatment for shock, unconsciousness, fainting, adult choking, severe bleeding, and more. At the beginning of the 2-day training, participants will be given a recap quiz to ensure understanding of the online course. Only participants with a passing mark will be able to move forward to the practical training session. A minimum passing grade of 50% is required on the recap quiz to move forward to the second half of the certificate coures.
