Hot Work Program

This Hot Work training course is an awareness program that introduces Hot Work safety information designed to make you mindful of the standards that are in place and what controls to use in safeguarding against incidents or injury.

Course Overview

Hot Work is defined as any work that involves working with or around open flames or sparks, or anything that could potentially start a fire. This Hot Work training course is an awareness program that introduces Hot Work safety information designed to make you mindful of the standards that are in place and what controls to use in safeguarding against incidents or injury. It is assumed that you already obtain the necessary skills to perform the physical Hot Work operations themselves.

You will learn how to recognize related hot work hazards, how to avoid injuring yourself or others and learn safe working practices of the Operator, Fire Watch and PAI. The course will validate the use of PPE, explain hazard types and clarify the importance of the permitting process.

Course Topics

  • You will learn the roles of the Hot Work Operator, Fire Watch and Permit Authorising Individual.
  • You will be able to identify components of the Hot Work permit.
  • Recognize common hot work hazards and discuss ways to prevent them.
  • Describe how to arrange a fire safe area for temporary work.
