Course Overview
We don't always think of offices as dangerous places , "death by meeting" is probably the biggest risk that comes to mind , and yet, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, about 76,000 office workers sustain disabling injuries every year in the US alone.
That, why we created the Workplace Safety for Office Professionals video series, a dynamic and entertaining training course designed to guard you against the hidden dangers of office work.
From proper workstation set-up to avoiding a debilitating back or neck injury, we cover the most common causes of stress and strain. (Except for your obnoxious co-workers. You're going to have to deal with them on your own.)
Now you would be forgiven if you thought watching this series would be a slow and torturous ordeal. Safety training often is. Fortunately, though, we don't want to make boring videos anymore than you want to watch them.
So we've loaded our videos with enough hilarity that you might accidentally laugh out loud while watching them. So consider wearing headphones while you watch these. Your laughing will be even more entertaining if your colleagues can't hear what you're laughing at.
The point is, these videos are as enjoyable as they are useful. So kick back , without falling out of your chair , and get ready to enjoy our Workplace Safety for Office Professionals series. Because at The Jeff Havens Company, we offer serious solutions in a seriously funny way.
After completing this course, users should have an understanding of:
- How to prevent computer eyestrain.
- How to set up your workplace correctly for minimal risk of injury.
- How to avoid the most common office injury , slips, trips, and falls.
- The proper way to use a chair (trust us, the video for this one is hilarious).
- Proper lifting techniques.
- The importance of proper breathing protection. Surgical masks don't usually cut it, folks!
- How to avoid setting your building on fire.
Course Topics
This course also covers the following topics:
Preventing Digital Eye Strain
- Eye strain is the most commonly reported physical complaint in office-related jobs, and too much of it for too long can cause your eyeballs to just fall right out of your head. And while that last part probably isn't true, the rest of it is. Which is why this video will help make sure that all the screens you stare at all day long don't end up being more trouble than they're worth. You'll also see the world, worst eye exam, as well as what happens when you ask your friends to help you film a safety video. Enjoy!
Designing an Ergonomic Workstation
- This video addresses some of the major causes of injury due to poor workstation design and illustrates several simple ways to improve them. You'll also see some killer dance moves and learn about an electrifying new way to motivate your employees. Who would have thought that a training video about ergonomics could be so entertaining?
Chair Safety, Proper Posture, and Maybe Some Other Stuff
- We couldn't think of a catchy title involving the word ‘posture,' but thankfully we did manage to create a fun video to show you how to avoid a back injury by sitting and standing correctly. You'll also see some amazing uses for wheely chairs, and some fun ways to take a healthy break from working. A video about chair safety that you'll actually want to watch twice? Yep. That, what this is.
Proper Lifting Techniques
- This video will help you avoid a potentially life-changing back injury, unless you ignore everything we tell you. You'll learn why proper posture is such a big deal (hint: it, not just because it looks good), and you'll also see a bunch of stupid ways to lift things that you've probably done yourself.
Hearing Protection
- In this video you'll learn how easy it is to suffer hearing loss in the workplace, and how to prevent it. You'll also learn the difference between 80 decibels and 85 (which is not as obvious as it should be), and there might be some other stuff in here too. We can't remember.
Fall Prevention Essentials
- Except for motor vehicle accidents, falls at work are the most common form of workplace injury. This video will help you recognize various falling hazards and take some simple steps to prevent injury. We'll also cover some very ineffective ways to prevent slips, trips & falls, and there might be several people going up and down stairs with varying degrees of success. Did we film some realistic falling sequences to scare you into obedience? You'll have to watch to find out!
Fire Prevention Essentials
- On the off chance that you don't want to catch on fire today, we've created this video to help ensure that you avoid the most common causes of fire in the workplace. You'll also see a terribly organized evacuation drill, and there might be a hint of romance in this one too. Enjoy!
